DLC Staff Appointed to GJRC Campus Advisory Group

Geoff Peterson, advocate in Disability Law Colorado’s Grand Junction office, has been appointed by Reggie Bicha to the GJRC Campus Advisory Group.  The purpose of the Group will be to advise the Colorado Department of Human Services as it develops a plan to move the 28 residents currently living on the Grand Junction Regional Center campus into community residences operated by Grand Junction Regional Center, Wheat Ridge Regional Center, or a program operated by a Community Centered Board or a private residential provider.

The Group was created by Senate Bill 16-178 “Concerning the Grand Junction Regional Center Campus” and is comprised of seven members – 3 direct care staff from Grand Junction Regional Center, 2 parents/guardians, and 2 stakeholders.  Geoff holds one of the stakeholder seats; Keith Larsen with Arc/Mesa County holds the other.

Geoff has many years of experience assisting individuals move from institutional settings into community settings, both as a service provider and as an advocate for the Arc/Jefferson County and DLC.  His knowledge and experience will inform the advisory group of the steps necessary to develop a positive transition.
