We were honored to be present when Governor Hickenlooper signed House Bill 17-1276 into law.  HB17-1276 bans prone restraint in Colorado schools, creates a complaint mechanism for parents to use when they believe a school has violated the restraint rules, and codifies data collection requirements regarding the use of restraint in schools.

Last fall, Disability Law Colorado issued a report titled "What's Holding Our Students Down? Restraint in Colorado Schools." This report was the starting point for the legislation that passed as HB17-1276.
